Integrated Pebl Drives PlanetData - Here's How!

Track heat pump performance with the Internet of Things

Powered by integrated Pebl, PlanetData enables homeowners and heat pump installers to monitor and control heat pumps remotely. From observing coefficient of performance, to changing temperature and watching electricity usage.

PlanetData charts data and modifies heat pump settings - using Modbus, Pebl, and the Fingoti Cloud.

How has Fingoti empowered PlanetData to function remotely?

PlanetData facilitates communication to heat pumps via the Modbus protocol, where registers (data points) are either read-only, or read/write.

The Fingoti Cloud sends a UART (RS-232) command to the Pebl over WiFi, which is translated to Modbus (RS-485), allowing communication with the heat pump. The resulting data is then processed and visualised on the PlanetData dashboard.

In contrast to WiFi gateway solutions, PlanetData is manufacturer-agnostic, and can permit access to more statistics and commands.

Real-time and historical data is available remotely, benefitting both homeowners and heat pump installers:

  • Quickly turn on holiday mode while you're at the airport
  • Diagnose issues off-site

The PlanetData PCB incorporating integrated Pebl features onboard power regulation; PlanetData accepts 5...32V voltage input, stepping down to 3.3V for integrated Pebl.

An external antenna is seen on the end plate, enabling WiFi and Bluetooth communications. An external LED serves as the device LED.

Following the release of the PlanetData Modbus variant, the following protocols will begin to receive support:

  • RS-232
  • M-Bus
  • EBus

A concept made into reality with integrated Pebl

The capabilities of Pebl and the Fingoti Cloud coalesce to produce a canny device.

  • Communicate natively over serial
  • Send API requests which are consumed by a webhook
  • Encrypt messages for security
  • Connect over WiFi for worldwide accessibility
